Another Quiz Night, a different winning team!

Eager quiz fans and supporters of local Scouting assembled at The Crosfield Hall in Romsey last weekend for another enjoyable quiz night.  Twelve teams comprising up to 8 members took part, with three of those representing local Scout Groups.  Many who attended have become quiz regulars and it’s always lovely to see so many familiar faces, although there were first-timers there too.

It was a high scoring event, with the lead changing hands a number of times through the evening.  Strategic playing of ‘Joker’ cards (double your points) and ‘chicken’ cards (to guarantee a minimum of 6 points on rounds your team are not strong on) was definitely a factor.  When all the results were added up, there was just one point separating the top three teams!  There was a tie for second place, with regular winners Quidditch being just pipped at the post for the top spot.  However, team 5 (in the photograph) snagged the prizes by that one crucial point to take home the delight of winning.  (They already have next year’s date in their diaries – 18th October 2025 – if you fancy coming to take them on!)

The scores were just as tight for the Scout trophy, too.  21st Romsey (Nursling & Rownhams) and 10th Romsey (Woodley & Crampmoor) fought a very tight game, again with just a couple of points between them.  In the end, it was the Cub Leaders’ team from 10th Romsey who retained the trophy (having remembered to bring it back from last year!).

The District Supporters’ Club draw took place for September and October with two members of the District team in the room being lucky, as well as two friends of the District. As usual, an excellent supper was provided by the team: Kay, Liz, Truda and Hazel.  The raffle was well supported, thanks to the ticket-selling skills of Steve.  And the question master and scorers enjoyed running the evening almost as much as they enjoy spending the year between quizzes coming up with the questions!  Thanks to David, Fiona, Bod and Claire for their hard work.

If you’d like to join in the fun next year, please put 18th October in your diary and email our Chair for details: chair@romseyscouts.org
