Squirrels
Squirrels is the Scout section just for young people aged between 4 and 6 years old.
Squirrels usually meet every week in groups called Squirrel drays making their way through lots of different games and activities – achieving anything they set their minds to, and having lots of fun along the way.
Squirrels:
- Master new skills and try new things
- Have fun and go on adventures
- Make friends
- Are curious about the world around them
- Help others and make a difference, on their own doorsteps and beyond
- Prepare to go on to join the Beaver section, if they choose to.
Squirrel drays are currently being rolled out across all the Groups in Romsey District, currently have active Squirrel drays, meeting on different evenings of the week, so there should be plenty of choice near you. You will be invited to go along and try a few meetings before you commit to joining. We are happy to offer help with purchasing the uniform and paying for subs and trips as we believe that Scouting should be open to everyone; please ask for more details.
Squirrels can achieve anything they set their minds to – and they have lots of fun along the way.
The one hour sessions will be a brilliant opportunity for young people to take their first step into being part of Scouts, and they’ll help everyone get ready for the adventure of school too.
Sessions will be packed with outdoors activities, fun, games, badges, laughter, and so much more to help our youngest members learn the skills they need for life. Of course, none of it would be possible without the support of the amazing leaders who plan and deliver such an inspiring programme.
Like all our sections, Squirrels are run by dedicated and enthusiastic teams of adult volunteers – but we always need more adults to join in the fun! If you as a parent are willing to join a parent rota, or even to come more often, it may help your child to join Squirrels sooner.
