Beavers
Beavers is the Scout section just for young people aged between 6 and 8 years old.
Beavers usually meet every week in groups called Beaver Colonies to hop, skip and jump their way through lots of different games and activities – achieving anything they set their minds to, and having lots of fun along the way.
Beavers:
- Master new skills and try new things
- Have fun and go on adventures
- Make friends
- Are curious about the world around them
- Help others and make a difference, on their own doorsteps and beyond
- Prepare to go on to join the Cub section, if they choose to.
Beavers work towards activity badges and awards, culminating in the Bronze Chief Scout Award for those who have completed all the challenges. They will get the chance to try new things , spend time exploring things they already enjoy and take part in nights away activities and events.
All the Groups in Romsey District currently have active Beaver colonies, meeting on different evenings of the week, so there should be plenty of choice near you. You will be invited to go along and try a few meetings before you commit to joining. We are happy to offer help with purchasing the uniform and paying for subs and trips as we believe that Scouting should be open to everyone; please ask for more details.
Like all our sections, Beavers are run by dedicated and enthusiastic teams of adult volunteers – but we always need more adults to join in the fun! If you as a parent are willing to join a parent rota, or even to come more often, it may help your child to join Beavers sooner.
