Adults Activity Weekend – June 2026

Date: 1st Feb 2026 Author: Claire Sutton

All adult members of Romsey District Scouts are invited to join us at Lockerley Scout HQ for a fun, active and social day (and night!) on Saturday 9th June 2026.

As adults in Scouting, we’re often organising fun activities for our young people – and it’s not uncommon for us to say “This is fun, I’d like to have a go myself!”  So that’s what we’re going to do!

Please book your place by Friday 22nd May 2026

All adults who hold any role in Romsey – uniformed leaders, Trustees or occasional volunteers – are invited to spend all or part of the day with us taking part in the activities, socialising and even camping the night if they wish.

Activities planned are:

  • Silver jewellery workshop – make a pendant or pair of earrings to take away
  • Willow weaving – make a willow ‘platter’ or trivet
  • Art workshop – explore your creativity, build your confidence and get some ideas for a Section night!
  • Archery – with The Romsey Archers
  • Ropework – knots, lashing and whipping for novices
  • Dementia Friends session
  • Pioneering
  • Supporting your Young Leader – YL training scheme, FAQs and general advice
  • EveningCheese & Wine Tasting (thanks to Waitrose) & Campfire

The format of the day will be roughly as follows:

  • Saturday – arrival from 9am (for set-up and to pitch tents)
  • 9.30am Activity session 1
  • 11am Coffee break
  • 11.15 Activity session 2
  • 12.45pm Lunch (ploughmans)
  • 1.45 Activity session 3
  • 3.15 Tea break
  • 3.30 Activity session 4
  • 5.00 Scouts Own/Presentation from our District Lead Volunteer
  • 6.30 Dinner (BBQ)
  • 7.30 Wine tasting and/or campfire
  • Sunday morning – for those choosing to camp – breakfast about 8.30am and depart when ready

There is no requirement to come and take part in every activity session; members are welcome to just come along and join in when it suits them, or drink tea and chat if they prefer!

As a thank you to all our volunteers for everything they do, the majority of the costs of the weekend will be covered by Romsey District.  There will be a small fee towards the costs of meals, camping over and towards the materials for the more expensive workshops.  All costs are indicated on the booking form.

For any questions, to cancel a booking or if you know an organisation who might like to come along and run an activity on the day, please email secretary@romseyscouts.org
